I’m Barnaby, and I’ve loved railways and their history for as long as I can remember. Itโs not just the trains that interest me, but everything around them โ the tunnels, the stations, the people who built them, and all the little details most people walk past without noticing. Growing up in Liverpool, I was never far from a reminder of how much railways shaped the city, and that fascination has only grown over the years.
Liverpool was right at the heart of the railway revolution. Some of the earliest and most important developments happened here, from the Liverpool and Manchester Railway to the first tunnels driven under a busy city. Even now, if you know where to look, you can find bits and pieces of that history tucked away โ old stone walls, forgotten cuttings, tunnels hidden behind locked gates. There’s a lot more left than you might think.
On this site, Iโll be writing about all of it โ the big landmarks, the smaller forgotten stories, and plenty of facts and trivia along the way. I hope you find it as interesting as I do.
